Ubisoft's finally landed a screenwriter for its movie

Ubisoft's finally landed a screenwriter for its big screen adaptation of Assassin's Creed starring Michael Fassbender.

Recently, Ubisoft Motion Picture's announced a string of good news. Not only did it land Michael Fassbender for a leading role, but also Bane actor Tom Hardy to star in Splinter Cell and Eric Warren, who penned The International, as the screenwriter. With all that Hollywood talent, it seems more than likely that Ubisoft would return to the same pool for Assassin's Creed's screenwriter.

Instead, Ubisoft has looked into theatrical circles and pulled out Michael Lesslie, who's relatively unknown. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lesslie's written a few short films and the National Theatre production of Prince of Denmark, a prequel to Hamlet.

Since this will be Lesslie's first go at feature length film writing, we can only hope that Ubisoft Motion Picture manages to guide him and the movie to be a non-travesty for fans of the videogames.
